2.5L/2.7L (Delta) Engine Hesitation / MIL Illumination / P0123
This bulletin provides information relating to an engine hesitation or the illumination of the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) for P0123 (Throttle Position Sensor / Switch “A” Circuit High Input).
Some 2001-2006 Optima (MS) produced between 10-07-2000 ~ 08-31-2005, equipped with the 2.5L or 2.7L (V-6) Delta Engine and some Sportage (KM) models produced between 10-28-2004 ~ 05/18/2007 equipped with the 2.7L (V-6) Delta Engine are applicable for this bulletin. Improper throttle position sensor values may cause the engine to hesitate under loads or cause the illumination of the MIL. To correct for this condition, the throttle position sensor (TPS) has been improved.
INTERMITTENT HARD STEERING (VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH EPS ONLY)
This bulletin provides information relating to the service of the vehicle speed sensor and adapter cord. Sorento EX vehicles produced before 10/6/04 may intermittently have variations in the level of power assist during driving or parking. Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) C1012 may be stored in the EPS control module.
A/C Compressor Noise Concern
This revised bulletin replaces information published on 5/23/2007, Climate Control – 010. It readdresses some 2006 – 2008 Sedona (VQ) that may exhibit a knocking noise (mainly at idle) during A/C operation. A new redesigned A/C compressor Disc & Hub with better dampening characteristics can be retrofitted to these vehicles A/C compressors to eliminate the concern. This new design Disc & Hub assembly can be applied to any 2006 – 2008 Sedona (VQ) manufactured before January 16, 2008 that exhibits this concern and hasn’t had the current new redesigned Disc & Hub installed.
Sedona (VQ) ABS/ESC Warning Lamp ON – Poor Grounds
Affected Vehicle Range:
2006 – 2007 Sedona (VQ) produced before March 8, 2006
Some 2006 – 2007 Sedona (VQ) vehicles with a production date earlier than March 8, 2006 may exhibit a customer concern of an ABS/ESC Warning Lamp (MIL) being illuminated. Various DTC’s such as C2402 or U0001 may also be stored in the control module – OR – the GDS Scan Tool may not be able to communicate with the ABS/ESC system at all. Do NOT replace an ABS/ESC unit without at least first applying the procedure described in this TSB. These symptoms may result from poor grounds at G19 and/or G20, caused by paint remains between the bolt and mating weld nut attaching the ground terminal to the body. This TSB provides a procedure to properly correct this condition. Remember too, that other poor connections may exist, and should also be checked prior to any part replacement.
PCM UPGRADE P0110, P0111, P0116 AND P161B
This bulletin provides information related to the ECM software upgrade of some 2006~2010MY Sedona (VQ) vehicles with 3.8L engines, 2009MY Borrego (HM) vehicles with 3.8L engines, 2007~2009MY Amanti (GH) vehicles with 3.8L engine, 2006~2010MY Optima (MG) vehicles with 2.7L engines, and 2007~2010MY Rondo (UN) vehicles with 2.7L engines which may experience a malfunction indicator lamp illuminated with the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) system-related DTC(s), P0110, P0111, P0116 and P161B.
