) is recalling certain 2009-2014 Borrego vehicles. The headliner plates may not be secured properly, which can result in the plates detaching in the event of a side curtain air bag deployment.
Remedy
Dealers will secure the headliner plates, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 30, 2023. Owners may contact Kia
customer service at 1-800-333-4542. Kia

HATCI performs CAB deployment tests. Deployment test results in left headliner plate detachment in a 2009MY Borrego vehicle. Headliner plate detachment does not occur in other models tested.
HATCI sends deployment test parts to Kia
HQ for further evaluation. Kia
HQ identifies hot melt adhesive is not present on headliner plate. Cause of missing adhesive is unknown. Kia
HQ requests HATCI perform additional testing.
January 6, 2023
HATCI performs CAB deployment test on another 2009MY Borrego vehicle. Headliner plates do not detach.
