SUBJECT:

UNABLE TO “SET” CRUISE CONTROL

This article provides information on concerns related to being unable to SET the cruise control system with the steering wheel switch, despite the CRUISE “main” switch and lamp operating normally, and with no DTCs. (If DTCs are found, refer to the relevant DTC troubleshooting procedure in the KGIS or GDS Service Information.)

The Optima Hybrid uses multiple inputs to determine cruise control SET and CANCEL conditions. One of these inputs is pedal travel, which is sent to the Hybrid Control Unit by two sensors: a brake pedal travel sensor (PTS) and a brake pressure sensor. These sensors must be properly calibrated for the cruise control to function as designed.

To calibrate these sensors, use GDS to select the Brake/Active Hydraulic Booster system, navigate to the Vehicle S/W Management screen, and select the Pressure Sensor Calibration and PTS Calibration buttons.

For more information on the cruise control system of the Optima Hybrid, refer to KGIS or GDS Service Information: Engine Electrical System > Cruise Control System.
