NEW MULTI-FUSE AND JUNCTION BOX COVER INSTALLATION (SC196/SC196A) |
NOTICE
This bulletin has been revised to include additional information. New/revised sections of this bulletin are indicated by a black bar in the margin area.
This bulletin provides the procedure to install a new multi-fuse kit in the junction box on:
- Original Scope (SC196) – certain 2019 MY Stinger vehicles equipped with the 3.3L TurboGDI engines, manufactured from June 21, 2018 through July 9, 2019, and
- Amended/Expanded Scope (SC196A) – certain 2018-2021 MY Stinger vehicles not equipped with the Smart Cruise Control (SCC), manufactured from October 11, 2017 through November 16, 2020.
The affected vehicles may exhibit numerous warnings, including illumination of the tire pressure warning light, ABS warning light, MIL warning light, a burning/melting smell and/or smoke from engine compartment in the area where the Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit (HECU) is located. It is believed that the electrical circuit within the HECU experiences a short circuit condition that results in excessive current, thereby increasing the risk of an engine compartment fire. Before conducting the procedure, verify that the vehicle is included in the list of affected VINs.
NOTICE
There is no charge to the vehicle owner for this repair. Under applicable law, you may not sell or otherwise deliver any affected vehicle until it has been repaired pursuant to the procedures set forth in this bulletin.
